About us

Who we are

We are a couple with three kids, living in Oslo. We’ve worked many years as journalists and editors in the Norwegian media industry, and travelling has always been our happy hobby. We stay at far more hotels than we could ever write about, so Scandinavian Stays is where we share only the very best: the ones we can’t stop talking about when we get home.

How we choose hotels

We only write about hotels with something that stops you in your tracks: a sauna with breathtaking views of the open sea, a midnight swim from a long wooden pier, a breakfast you still think about months later. If we can’t point to that one moment, the hotel doesn’t make it onto these pages.

No sponsored stays

Travel is what we love most, and it is where our holidays, weekends and spare time go. The hotels on this site are places we have stayed on our own holidays, or while travelling for other work that has nothing to do with promoting hotels.

None of the stays are sponsored. No hotel pays us, hosts us in exchange for coverage, or has any say in what we write.

Editorial policy

We include what could be better, not just what we loved. We don’t sell places in our guides. We update reviews when hotels change in important ways. If we ever work with a hotel commercially, it will be clearly marked, but it will never affect what we write.

Our own experiences and photos

Every experience we describe is our own: we have stayed at every hotel on this site ourselves. All photos and videos are our own unless credited.

How we use AI

We use AI tools to help with research, drafts and editing. But every stay, every moment, every opinion and every photo is our own.
